Self care
Do you have a proper daily skincare ritual or self care routine?
Sadly our weeks get so busy that we don’t spend enough time taking care of ourselves, and our skin.
Self care is all about giving yourself moments to improve your mood, and overall well-being and is really important for our health.
I encourage you to put aside a few minutes each week when you have some downtime to give yourself a little extra love and attention.
Sunday is my self care day , Sunday is more restful than the rest of the week in our household and I have extra time to spend on myself.
I start my self care ritual with a bath with Epom salts.
Epsom salts are composed of magnesium sulphate and have been known through time for their beneficial effects on health and well-being. They are renowned for relaxing the nervous system, soothing skin problems, calming back pain and aching limbs, easing muscle strain, assisting healthy skin recovery, and drawing toxins from the body.
While soaking and relaxing, I wash my hair and put on a conditioning oil and apply an at-home peel on my face followed by a nourishing face masque such as Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque or Melting Moisture Masque
At home peel ? What’s one of them you ask.

Well a Peel is a form of exfoliation and skin resurfacing, our skin’s ability to shed dead skin cells slows down over time. Regularly exfoliating will reveal healthy new cells, and can unclog pores, minimize the appearance of wrinkles, smooth out rough texture, even out skin tone, and boost hydration.
An easy way to deeply (but gently!) do this at home is with Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) in the form of an at-home peel. If you are unfamiliar with using acids at home, ask the team at Essential Well-being for advice, they are not scary or too intense for you. The AHAs used for at-home peels are mild, gentle, and can even be used the day before a big event, you don’t actually peel.
I see all the time the impact a weekly at-home peel can have on my clients’ skin, plus, the actual act of spending a few extra minutes on yourself is comforting and soothing by nature.
During the lock down, clients have continued to cleanse and moisturise, but have neglected to resurface. They have returned to my treatment room with both dry and dehydrated skin.
I have recommended Rapid Reveal Peel by Dermalogica for your weekly exfoliation ritual.
It’s such an impressive formula!
Not only does it incorporate well-researched AHAs in the form of Lactic Acid, Citric Acid and Phytic Acid, it also uses a fermented plant enzyme to kick-start cell turnover.
In addition, this at-home peel uses a unique blend of humectants to hydrate along with soothing ingredients to calm and nourish the skin, making it ideal for all skin types.
Follow the peel with a nourishing face masque, try Dermalogica’s new Melting Moisture Mask, an extremely moisturizing masque that elegantly transforms from balm to oil to help restore and nourish dry skin and
This weekly exfoliation fits right in to a self-care moment, and will reveal your most radiant facial skin!
What ever you decide to do as part of your self care routine, start this week and give yourself a little love. ❤️ ❤️
